The Neighborhoods We Freaked Out Over in Stockholm
1. Gamla Stan
What a great neighborhood! We'll tell you about our favorite route:
- Start in Slussen in the morning
- Go up Västerlånggatan (the main street)
- Lose yourself in the narrow streets (the narrowest, Mårten Trotzigs Gränd, is only 90 cm wide!)
- Stop at Chokladkoppen for the best hot chocolate of your life
- Golden Hour : At sunset, head to Stortorget Square. The photos come out amazing
2. Södermalm (Our Favorite Neighborhood)
This is Stockholm's Brooklyn, but with more vibe. Places we fell in love with:
- Photo Spot : Monteliusvägen for the best views
- Vintage Stores : Beyond Retro (we bought some awesome vintage jackets)
- Bars :
- Pet Sounds Bar (music on vinyl)
- Gröna Lund (in summer, open-air concerts)
3. Östermalm
Stockholm's posh neighborhood, but it has its secrets:
- Östermalms Saluhall : Okay, it's expensive, but try the seafood. Brutal!
- Stureplan : At night it is filled with cool places
- Humlegården : Perfect for a picnic with a view
The Archipelago (The Jewel in the Crown)
Nobody tells you this and it's THE BOMB! We took several ferries and we tell you about the experience:
1. Vaxholm :
- Ferry from Strömkajen
- Price: 75 SEK (included in SL card)
- Time: 1 hour
- The fortress is amazing
- We ate at Hembygdsgårds Café (homemade cakes!)
2. Fjäderholmarna :
- The closest one (30 min)
- Perfect for half a day
- They have a brutal craft beer factory
3. Grinda :
- The most authentic experience
- We slept in a tent
- We rent kayaks (40€/day)
The Stockholm Metro: An Artistic Madness
Ok, this deserves a special section. We visited ALL the cool stations and we bring you the final ranking:
