Travel Guide – Madrid

Description

This is our Madrid travel guide: our favorite spots in the Spanish capital, organized by neighborhood and by type of plan. It's a PDF formatted for your phone screen and includes a Google Maps list with 250+ saved and organized places, so you can always see what's near you.

What's inside the guide

  • Two itineraries: Madrid in 3 days (the historic center, museums, shopping and Malasaña) and Madrid in 1 week, with a day trip to Toledo.
  • A map of the 21 districts and their neighborhoods.
  • Local info: getting from the airport to the center by metro, Exprés Aeropuerto bus or flat-rate taxi, plus useful apps.
  • Cafés and brunch spots by neighborhood (Centro, Retiro, Salamanca, Chamberí, Latina…) and our favorites.
  • Restaurants: tapas, tortilla, Italian, ramen, sushi, Mexican, burgers, healthy, and special occasions.
  • Hotels and hostels in three price ranges.
  • Summer plans (rooftop terraces with views, pools, beaches and natural pools, open-air cinema) and winter plans.
  • Art and culture, markets, secondhand shops and workout classes.

Who it's for

For a first trip to Madrid where you want to see the highlights without wasting time, and for getaways with friends or as a couple where where you eat matters just as much as what you see.

FAQ

How do I get it?
It lands in your inbox instantly, along with your order confirmation. Open it on your phone and you're good to go.

Is it up to date?
Yes, we reviewed it in October 2026.

Does it work if I'm visiting Madrid in winter?
Yes. There's a whole section of winter plans: Christmas markets like the Feria de Artesanía de Recoletos, chocolate con churros at San Ginés, ice-skating rinks, skiing at Xanadú and the Tren de Felipe II to El Escorial (including the months it doesn't run).

If you just want the places, there's our Madrid map on Google Maps. And if you're traveling as a group, check out our post on things to do with friends in Madrid.
